Whiskey, Soda, Lollipop, IIHM on the TOP!

The opening of the Young chef Olympiad was so much fun. There were some speeches and some flags and some dancing... lots of dancing. The girls were all dressed in the most colorful costumes and the music was vibrant and exotic. I mean you don't see this stuff on Dance Mom's.

I gave a speech too- I had one carefully memorized but in true Logan style I went rogue and made it all up!
The Young Chefs are the best of the best of the best of the best of the best of the best....

Even though it was unexpected and almost all of the planners had a come apart it still worked out great.
Now enough celebration it was time for the competition to commence.

I know people think I can't or shouldn't judge but I am super serious about it. I have a fresh perspective and I know how I would cook something and defiantly how it should taste. I look for confidence, body language, nerves, and more, not going to give out all my secrets.

I lot of people think that since i am still a kid they can sway me with friendship or bribes but ultimately what matters the most is whats on the plate, if you want to be the best of the best you have to impress the best of us watching. I was honored!

Then we hopped on a Spice Jet plane named Parsley and took off for Bangalore, the Garden City.

The IIHM group there really out did themselves to welcome us! Flowers Drummers, sunshine and Koti rolls. I loved it! My friends there even found me a most adorable suvi a Tuk Tuk toy! How nice is that?!

Sadly, I was there just one night and back to Spice jet to head to Kolkata.

What Do You Do After You Win MasterChef Jr ?

You go to Universal Studios!

Behind the Scenes- First off after you win Masterchef Jr there is just a lot of waiting and work. Interviews, meetings...but you are really happy, so it is all good!

Now my Aunt and Uncle live in the LA area, so we popped in for a visit. We stayed with them a couple of days and had a great time. It was good to relax.

My Uncle works at Universal Studios so he hooked us up with a once in a lifetime trip to the Park. I mean we had passes and great food and fast passes and I even got to met the Head Executive Chef for Universal. I mean this is the guy who feeds over 20,000 people a DAY! Chef Eric was crazy nice to me! Now we could not tell him anything about what I had just done, so the Chef was just sharing his time with a fellow foodie.

Winner MasterChef Junior Logan Winner

It was Amazing! I mean they have a great system to make and distribute all that food around the park and they make literally tons of it!
Gru's Cafe was the Bomb - the fried mac and cheese and the Chicken and minion cupcakes all so good!

The V.I.P. had the prettiest buffet with the tastiest food ever.

Everything was fresh and well cooked. Chef Eric runs a great staff of Chefs and restaurant managers. Everyone was friendly and I had the best day!

It was super fun and relaxing! Those fast passes really made it the best experience and the great staff made me feel like a rockstar. I was feeling pretty confused about winning and not being able to celebrate so this was just the most exciting way to celebrate without telling anyone!

Thanks Chef Eric, Uncle Israel, Universal staff. I had a blast and the new Minion ride was the best.

Wolfgang Puck's The City Walk LA

While I was in LA I got to go to The City Walk several times and try some of the food.

My first stop was Wolfgang Puck's, he is a pretty famous chef and the restaurant looked fresh and clean. It had a fast food, sit down style mixed together. You order at the front and then they delver pretty good food.
I love fried calamari so I ordered that and a meatloaf. The calamari was fresh, lightly fired and pretty darn good. It is the first time I have been served the tentacles which I see is a trend now. I am not too sure I like that. The little O's have a better flavor and mouth feel.
I did not like the meatloaf and had some envy for the huge burger my Mom ordered. This time she did not give it up because she hates meatloaf so I was stuck with it! Sigh.. I mean it would have been good if it had been a bit fresher or less dense but it was not. Fortunately we had the calamari so I did not go hungry. My mom's burger looked fantastic and she ate every bit! She said it was fantastic.

So if you are wandering around the city walk try it! You might like it too. Just stay clear of the meatloaf!

The Ultimate Meat Extravaganza Texas de Brazil

Texas de Brazil is downtown and it is fancy. It is known for the endless meat, it just keeps coming endlessly. I think it is an Brazilian steak house. The guys who bring the meat wear gaucho pants and are always carrying meat.

They have a huge salad bar in the middle of the restaurant with tons of yummy things to eat with the meat - like olives, cheeses, black beans, the chimichurri sauce and, well, salad.

I LOVE to go. Normally I don't eat much meat but at Texas de Brazil the meat is so good, I get stuffed. I really enjoy the flank steak, the sirloin, the ribs, the sausage, the lamb, the fillet and sometimes even the chicken - basically all the meat. It is all  really delicious. I even like how they will bring it out and cut your pieces for the perfect temperature for you. I like medium rare. I think they brine it first to make it tender and juicy.

Dad likes to go for lunch instead of dinner because it is a bit less expensive and he has all day to get over eating all that MEAT.

So if you want an endless array of yummy roasted meat in a super cool atmosphere with great sides this is the place for you and ME!

PS. I really like the blue glasses and the meat!
Just so excited I forgot to take the photos!

Twisted Root Burger Co. a Big D Must, Before MasterChef Junior Auditions

For the MasterChef Junior Season 2 Audition, we pulled into Dallas the first thing we had to do was grab something delicious. I asked Siri for the best burger and she said Twisted Root Burger Co. It was close so we went.

It is a rustic kind of place with a great sense of humor. They have 2 of my most favorite things Root Beer and Pickles. It was love at first bite.

I ordered a burger and then I realized my Mom's burger was better so I ate hers. It happens frequently, sorry Mom! I get too adventurous and she saves me by choosing my favorites. This burger was huge and juicy and perfectly cooked. I loved that they made their own ketchup. They also make the pickles and the unique root beer. It is the BOMB.

The fries were crispy and delish. I loved the place! The bathroom was devoted entirely to Chuck Norris! How cool is that?

I would say Siri did hit the best burger in Dallas, maybe....it is a big city and I am one hungry boy.

Tazikis it is a chain....

Right next door to Petra cafe is another Greek style restaurant. I wondered if it would be as good as Petra's so in we went.

I liked the inside.  It was fresh, clean and nice. The pale green paint really felt peaceful.

The family all ordered Gyros but I have to say Petra's is 100 times better.

The bread was really the best part, soft, fresh, grilled and spiced. The meat was  not Gyro style but some other kind. I don't really know what they did to it! It was NOT GYRO MEAT!

The lettuce toppings were good but with the odd meat they could not save the sandwich. I did like the sauce but I could have had a bit more to cover up the meat.

I think it would be ok to go if you were in a hurry or just wanted to grab something quick, but to be honest there are just better Gyros out there.  I don't think our family will  go back.

Tap & Tamp

There has been a ton of buzz about Tap and  Tamp and how good their coffee is. Since I really love coffee I wanted to go. Now you also know that my Dad is not a Foodie, he does not even know why people sun dry tomatoes! Much less why you would eat them.

The building is kind of woodsy. Lots of wood and orange paint. It looked nice and had a fun vibe. They had an awesome cool cold brew coffee system. I loved it!

However that was the only thing I loved. My salmon sandwich was pretty but the salmon was sliced too thick and it had no smokey taste at all. I love smoked salmon so it was pretty disappointing. The fish was just too slimy. I ended up eating my Mom's Italian style sandwich. It was fresh but I am not sure they put the olive spread on it like they were supposed to. It had the same orange creamy spread as my salmon.

Now Dad got a sandwich with a funny long name something ground beef, sausage and a cheese sauce on Brioche bread. It was supposed to have peepers and onions but it has SALAD instead. To be honest the cheese sauce had a raw flour taste and a pretty wonky texture. It was gross. Dad was NOT HAPPY!
He also got some beets with goat cheese and balsamic vinegar. I liked those but Dad.....is not a foodie!

What really upset me was the way they treated us, like we did not belong in the restaurant and that kinda upset me cause I love new food places. Did I mention that they had an old Nintendo system and when I could not get it work the girl just ignored me.

I guess the place is catering to Hipsters and I must be too short to qualify, or maybe they sensed Dad's nonfoodie vibe, either way I won't go back.

PS. It was pretty expensive too- I mean we could have had a feast at Elwood's! And they are always very nice!

Rock the boat go to Rock'n Dough

Rock'n Dough is located in East Memphis, near Stash Furniture.
The inside of it is small but nicely furnished.
We go to Rock'n Dough when we have a pizza dispute.

That happens more often then you might guess.
When I fist had their pizza it was in a food truck. I remember the slice I got had bacon on it. I liked it. I think that is how the company started.
We usually have a large pizza with mushrooms, sausage, and sometimes olives.
The pizza has a hand tossed
medium thick crust. It is a little doughy on the top. The cheese is gooey and very stretchy. The sauce is savory, the mushrooms are fresh, the olives are well olives.

One cool thing about them is the fancy pizza by the slice. They have the pizza out and the slices always look fresh.

I really like the place, it is not my favorite but it is a good pizza.

Be Majestic at Majestic Grille

Majestic Grille is my Grandmother's favorite place.
It was an old movie theater that got turned into a restaurant.
They always have a black and white movie on a projector playing with no sound, but it is still cool.

Now onto the food.
I shared a salmon pizza with my Mama.
The crust was thin and generously sprinkled with salmon. It had spinach on it which I did not know about.
It could have used a light cream sauce. Overall it was ok. I would not order it again.

Dad ordered a hanger steak with mashed potatoes.
He thought that it was tasty but there were too many potatoes. It could maybe use a few green beans.

My Grandmother ordered the pork tenderloin with carrots, curly onion fries and mashed potatoes.
She liked it, it is what she usually orders.

If you want a majestic dinning experience go to Majestic Grille https://www.facebook.com/MajesticGrille .
