CookBooks or Story Books or Books...

CookBooks and other Odities...

The photo that got the ball rolling
When you are dreaming of being a chef you can't help but dream of making a cookbook. The problem for me is I don't use them. I know your thinking WHAT!

But it is true.

I have only opened 3-4 in my entire life. One was to see Gordon Ramsay's Autograph, one was to get a cake recipe Betty Crocker, standard Martha Stewart's Cookie book ( I don't like to bake) and one was a gift and I kinda wanted to look at the pictures.

So writing a cookbook seemed totally foreign to me- I mean honestly, do you follow recipes?

Check my poll on twitter- I will pin a tweet poll there

My first idea was to write a book to teach you how to think like I do- with lots of photos and space for my readers to explore. I mean a big ole book. Problem with that is wow. it a lot of work and a lot of money to produce and you would have to re-imagine cooking to see it how I do.

I started brainstorming with my Mom and we thought about what I love, who I am, and a bunch of other stuff.  This crazy girl on Instagram drew me on the show in this wild manga style now I mean wicked cool. It stuck with Mom- said write a Graphic Novel.

I read Graphics, love them for the fun way they tell a story in a newer style. They help me get through some classics like Shakespeare and I love Manga art. You might not know this but Japan is my goal city and Manga is like a gateway to the cool world of perfect food and cute things, lots of cute things.

I started by messaging this crazy girl- crazy talented and well,l say crazy cause she said yes! She said she would draw my story. I had to make some sacrifices. I was writing a different series of stories about another character and I really, really did not want to write about a fictional me. It is rather weird to write about yourself as a character and exactly how it all fit together. But I did it.

Today my first Novel a Graphic Novel Adventure Cookbook is going to press. The crazy talented girl Cindy Tan is my Illustrator, Micah Phil is my colorist and letterer, my Aunt did the proof reading, It is a huge group effort. My Gran helped with the title, Cooking Dreams.

I like it- what would Cooked Dreams taste like? Success? I am still thinking about that!
Here are some cool photos of the entire process and trust me it was a long one.

Get Shorty

I was nominated for a
Shorty Award in the Food Category. Shorty's are awards for Social Media Excellence. The award show was in NYC. Now, I love NYC, so I asked my Grandma if she would take me. She said yes, so we got tickets and headed to the Awards.

Logan MasterChef Winner

It was held near Times Square and that is one of the coolest spots in NYC. We had a good hotel and the adventures just were NYC were great.

Shorty Awards MasterChef Winner LoganWe ate at Guy Fieri's restaurant and boy was it good. To be honest. I had low expectations cause it is hooked into that whole Celebrity  Chef thing but they kicked it out of the park. Amazing!

I ordered the food we saw on one of the triple D episodes and yum! It was a party!

Sashimi tacos, egg rolls, and fried calamari with a Mac and Cheese burger to share. All really good!
I think the sashimi tacos were the best, but mom thinks the Mac and Cheese burger!

Logan MasterChef New York Shorty AwardsWe then went to the 9/11 memorial and while it was very sad it was also very moving and well historic. I guess I understand about it better since it happened before I was born.

The Award show was really fun- and funny they had little appetizers which were just killer good.

LOVED them. I did not win but as Grandma says I have time!
It was such a great trip Grandma even got us all cool watches cause it was a good time, special time, and great time.

MasterChef and Grandma

ONE PERSON INSPIRED CAN CHANGE THEIR COMMUNITY

I was invited to do a Food and Wine show in Tenafly, NJ last weekend, it took a lot of emailing and calling and working to get all the details, but I finally made it and did my first live Demo. Now, I know you might have seen my Posts for the Giants of Generosity but what you might not know is the story of this one woman charity.

Ms. Jane is a force for good and for the those without a voice.

She started Giants of Generosity 8 years ago, inspired by Oprah, she decided to help those in need. She said she felt God called her to do this work, and I guess I believe her. Ms Jane laughs easy and cries easy. She wears her heart on her sleeve and like my Mom is fearless with an email list and will ask for anything. She asked for me and of course I said yes.

I know that this charity is small but that means you really see the results of all the work she does just like that. She helps accident victims, fire victims, people hurt, down on their luck or just with no place left to turn. She installed an elevator, redid a house, and just helps those who need help.

Ms Jane does not ask for much in return- her joy for helping shows on her face and I was honored to be at her event.

I was really nervous to do the demo, I usually can knock out TV spots, radio spots and interviews like that! But 20 minutes with some food sounded tough. I think I did pretty good! She was laughing and the audience loved it. I signed autographs and took pictures and I have to say I think this was my first meet and greet. All the people were just so nice too! Thanks Ms. Jane for letting me share in your mission! Now, if you cant start your own charity and want to just help some nice people who have know where to turn here is a link. I promise every dollar you give will help Ms. Jane help others.
